We had our first Carvation party, and it was so very fun. Folks came, costumed, carved, conversed and consumed a delicious potluck array. From all reports–at all age levels–it was deemed a success. Families got to scoop and carve together in the warmth of the garage, and we made it through with only one small injury (an adult who shall remain nameless!) The older kids loved the apple-bobbing and had no fear of ruining costumes or hairstyles. Their enthusiasm led them straight into the freezing water for the elusive floating fruits. The activity on the corner and our impromptu lighting & award ceremony seemed to slow traffic, and the random passersby got to enjoy our large display of jack-o-lanterns after the projects were complete.  Good times, good times!
