On the way to a cross-country meet, my pals and I passed by this “imposter” in Benson (freshly painted in a similar color!). I have seen so many structures of this building style and size that I wonder if it was a kit you could order from Sears back in the day? I can find similar structures in a 1930 Sears Summer Cottage Kit catalog, or in Phillips 66 gas stations of the same time period, but I am not sure where this unique, but surprisingly common structure has its origin. If anyone runs across that bit of history, please email me. My in-house historian would love to know about it.
Wonder what goes on inside this Benson-based copycat? Hmm…will investigate on my next trip through town.
omg. that’s crazy! there’s a story there, for sure!
